Trane®, from Trane Technologies, global climate innovator, is launching new Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF chillers, designed to meet the requirements of high temperature data center applications. The updated GVAF chillers are part of the Trane Sintesis™ eXcellent portfolio, which Eurovent has certified as the most efficient air-cooled chillers available on the market.

The updated Trane Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF chillers are equipped with new magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors, optimized for handling the high water temperatures typical of data centers and can operate efficiently all year round. The latest Trane Symbio 800 adaptive controller gives data center operators intelligent control over operational reliability and cooling system efficiency.

The Trane Symbio 800 controller can keep the unit running despite the harshest conditions and events, when other units would simply shut down. This is particularly important for data centers, which must operate day and night, 365 days a year. 

New features designed specifically for Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF include:

• New integrated software, designed to react faster and restart the unit in less time in the event of an unexpected shutdown.
• Enhanced connectivity with the ability to support numerous communication protocols including LonTalk, Modbus, BACnet, IP and WiFi, that allow you to monitor all elements of the system.
• Uninterrupted power supply. The Symbio 800 controller can be connected to a safe power source. This eliminates the need to restart the controller in the event of a blackout, ensuring the continuous availability of the controller to immediately manage the compressors once power is restored.

For increased reliability, Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF features the Trane Rapid Restart™ setting, to reduce the time it takes to reach full capacity after shutdown. It also has an automated transfer switch that allows you to connect the unit to two power sources. The unit will detect any power failure and will automatically switch to the auxiliary source, ensuring continuous operation.

To facilitate the integration of the unit within the refrigeration system, Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF is also equipped with numerous features such as reduced footprint, three different head levels for the hydraulic modules and various water connection options.

The new Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF models boast a near-zero global warming potential (GWP) R-1234ze and are part of Trane's EcoWise™ portfolio. The exclusive range of EcoWise™ products includes systems and products for HVAC and refrigeration, as well as initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of Trane Technologies products, the company itself and its customers. This strategy is in line with Trane Technologies 'sustainability goals for 2030 and its commitment to reduce its customers' carbon dioxide emissions by one gigatone, which is the equivalent of the combined annual emissions of Italy, France and the United Kingdom.

The new Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF also includes an updated freecooling system, adapted to the increasingly high temperatures of modern data centers. This allows data centers to more efficiently combine freecooling with mechanical fan operation to optimize system energy consumption.
