Trane®, the world's leading provider of indoor air conditioning solutions and services and a brand of Trane Technologies, continues its path of electrification of heating, expanding its portfolio of heating solutions with the new Exergy series heat pumps.

The Exergy series units have a heating capacity of up to 120 degrees Celsius and can replace gas and oil boilers in industrial processes, buildings and district heating applications.

Trane's Exergy heat pumps generate heat at the highest temperature on the market and can draw energy from natural water, wastewater or industrial processes, at a temperature range of -20 to +45 degrees Celsius. This gives customers flexibility in operations and expands the scope of applications where this energy can be recovered, extracted and used as a source for efficient and environmentally friendly heating.

Trane's new Exergy series heat pumps are available in capacities from 30 to 2000 kW and feature R-1234ze refrigerant with near-zero global warming potential (GWP). The technology offers up to 400% more efficiency than most fossil fuel boilers and is designed to:

  • Recover heat from urban or industrial wastewater, which can then be used in industrial processes or conveyed to the district heating network.
  • Recover waste heat in cooling systems to generate hot water and replace precious primary energy.
  • Use the heat from evaporators, cooling towers, dryers, etc., and produce thermal energy for industrial processes.
  • Use geothermal energy for heating, replacing heat sources located in different positions.
  • In combination with an external cooling unit, extract the heat from the external air and use it for space heating, hot water production, etc.

Trane's new Exergy series heat pumps are produced in collaboration with Oilon, a Finnish company in the field of energy and environmentally friendly technologies, with over 60 years of experience in generating heat for private homes, large residential buildings, networks district heating and various industrial processes.

Providing electrical solutions for electrification of heating is a component of Trane and Trane Technologies' global initiative aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the sectors and markets in which they operate.
