RETRADEABLES is the first European market for fluorinated gases to support the circular use of refrigerants extracted from HVAC-R equipment. Established under the EU-funded Life3R project, RETRADEABLES creates a circular economy for used F-gases, offering a sustainable alternative source for refrigerant supplies. It is the only European online platform that applies the circular economy of used refrigerants, driven by a market mechanism.

RETRADEABLES is the first circular economy of used refrigerants made for the entire air conditioning and refrigeration market in Europe. In accordance with EU policies, the Green Deal, the circular economy and the Waste Framework or F-Gas Regulation, RETRADEABLES promotes the economically feasible recovery of stocks of used gas distributed on the market, allowing for recycling, recovery and the reuse of used F-gas waste. Since the supply of fluorinated gases is reduced and the capacity of high-GWP fluorinated gases limited, the circular economy has a fundamental role to play in reducing the carbon footprint of the life cycle through the use of HVAC-R.

RETRADEABLES was born from the Life3R project, funded by the LIFE Program of the European Union. The Life3R consortium is made up of experienced partners from several EU member states, including Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe HandelsgmbH, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and mat4nrg GmbH (The Society for Materials and Energy Applications). Powered by real-time transaction data, RETRADEABLES gives decision makers a critical advantage by connecting them to a dynamic and traceable network of recycling and recovery data and appropriate contacts. Used F-gases are traded on the reliable platform and once recycled or regenerated to industry standards, the recovered gas re-enters the market. This circular economy captures the fluorinated gases that exist on the market and ensures the reuse of gas supplies.
