Improving efficiency, reducing consumption and safeguarding resources, in compliance with the principles of the Circular Economy, are priority objectives for Frascold, leading player in the development, production and marketing of semi-hermetic compressors serving the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. The recent investments in the headquarters, located in the province of Milan, are concrete evidence of the Company's desire to achieve the highest standards of excellence, reduce waste and promote employee well-being. The interventions involve the creation of a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system, the relamping and construction, with natural materials, of a new multifunctional building.
Frascold is committed to addressing climate change by supporting initiatives aimed at decreasing the impact of the company's business on the environment. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Frascold has recently started the construction of an innovative photovoltaic system. A total of 3,500 panels will be installed on all usable surfaces of the production site, as well as on the covering of the parking shelters, which construction is scheduled for 2021. The project, carried out by Elettra Investimenti, will guarantee the minimum production of 1,311,940 kWh / year of clean energy, to meet almost 50% of daytime needs, with a reduction in CO2 emissions of 583 t / year.
In order to encourage sustainable growth, the introduction of a fleet of electric vehicles for corporate mobility is also planned. Frascold's goal is to combine the production of clean energy with the need for covered parking available for employees and visitors. For this reason, part of the photovoltaic panels will be installed on special shelters (345 kWp), becoming the ideal infrastructure for future charging stations.
In this virtuous path, the energy redevelopment interventions of the Italian plant also include a total relamping, which consists in replacing the old generation lighting bodies with LED devices. In addition to being 100% eco-compatible, they contribute to increasing the efficiency of the building, ensuring significant savings, both in terms of electricity consumption, for about 180,000 kWh / year, and maintenance interventions, thanks to a lifetime LED average of over 50,000 hours. A further step towards reducing the carbon footprint, which contributes, at the same time, to improving light output and visual comfort in the workplace, in favor of a superior well-being of employees.
In confirmation of Frascold's vocation for sustainable development, at the heart of which are people, the construction of a multifunctional building has been planned, which will be used both as a refectory and as a meeting place with customers and suppliers and room for organizing corporate events and meetings. Almost entirely designed with natural raw materials by the Rubner Group, a partner with over 50 years of experience in environmentally friendly projects, it will bring numerous benefits. For example, the reduced CO2 emissions into the atmosphere stand out, thanks to the choice of a material with low environmental impact, which can be reused or recycled 100%. Also noteworthy is the significant energy savings, up to 60%, by virtue of the high levels of thermal insulation guaranteed by wood, which also helps to create a healthy microclimate and optimize the acoustics of the rooms. Finally, in addition to giving a sense of warmth, it helps to improve indoor comfort, also enhanced thanks to a careful study of natural lighting, which includes the presence of large windows.
