Embraco, global supplier of refrigeration technology and a portfolio brand of Nidec Global Appliance, along with Daikin, manufacturer of air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems, presented a case study with a monoblock for walk-in cold rooms at the latest Atmo Europe in which 13.6% energy savings were achieved using variable speed technology and natural refrigerant R290, compared to a similar fixed speed solution also operating with R290, in medium temperature conditions, EN17432.These energy savings also translate into a similar percentage reduction in total equivalent heating impact, and a 13% reduction in cost of ownership. The study was conducted with Daikin's new LMSEY series, a range of R290 wall-mounted monoblocs for walk-in cold rooms fitted with soon-to-be-released Embraco FMFT variable speed compressors. Daikin's new solution works in a variety of applications, including cold rooms in supermarkets, food warehouses, pharmaceuticals, restaurants, bars, hotels and grocery stores.“This study allowed us to conclude that the inverter compressor technology guarantees a significant improvement in efficiency compared to on-off appliances” says Marino Bassi, Key Account Senior Advisor of Nidec Global Appliance, where he deals with the Embraco portfolio, and Erik Venturi, head of Daikin's NPD Commercial Refrigeration section. Both presented the case study at the ATMOsphere Europe Summit 2022 event held on November 15-16 in Brussels, Belgium, covering all issues related to natural refrigerants, such as policy developments, REACH and EU F-Gas regulations, market updates, end-user experiences and the impact of refrigerants.
