Carrier Transicold will present a new version of its all-electric Pulsor® system at IAA Transportation 2022.

The Pulsor eCool™ is the first of its kind designed to work with high voltage direct current generated by the batteries that power an electric light commercial vehicle, thus offering greater sustainability to customers who choose to use a modern electric fleet for urban deliveries.

Released in 2012, the Carrier Transicold's original Pulsor system was the first light commercial vehicle unit to make use of the electrification potential of the company's E-Drive™ technology, but required a generator to run on electricity. On the other hand, the new Pulsor eCool uses the high-voltage direct current from the electric vehicle battery.

Carrier Transicold's E-Drive technology, developed in 1999 for Vector® trailer units, can quickly lower the temperature and achieve high refrigeration capacity thanks to electricity. The system eliminates the traditional mechanical transmissions found in belt-driven refrigeration systems, transforming engine power into electricity to drive a variable speed compressor, reducing the risk of refrigerant leaks and making it ideal for battery operation.

With over twenty years E-Drive performance, Carrier Transicold's Pulsor range is already ideal for urban delivery fleets making frequent stops with multiple door openings. The Pulsor eCool will help urban logistics operators, ever more turning to battery-powered vehicles, to maintain optimal temperature throughout the entire delivery cycle, even when working in congested urban centers.

Carrier Transicold is working to create an innovative real-time management system, with the Pulsor eCool unit capable of using the vehicle's real time data to ensure optimal temperature management, with a limited impact on operator autonomy.
In addition, Carrier Transicold is working on dedicated applications and additional features intended to better foresee user needs and transmit refrigeration data to the driver.
