BITZER is a global player with 3,800 employees at 72 locations in 37 countries. With the new company headquarters in Sindelfingen, last year the company gave a strong signal in terms of both architecture and the link with its place of origin. Also in 2019, the first edition of the World Refrigeration Day was held, which will be celebrated again all over the world on June 26, 2020. "In consideration of the current situation, we will realize this edition of the World Refrigeration Day in virtual form", says Patrick Koops, BITZER press officer.
"There are many celebratory days, but precisely in today's context the importance of refrigeration and air conditioning emerges in a particularly clear way. Without the systems and solutions that exploit these technologies, systemically important systems could not function reliably. This is the message on which we want to focus attention on June 26 of this year", continues Koops. World Refrigeration Day was created to raise awareness among consumers about the importance of solutions in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning in many areas of our lives.
According to the company's spokesman, a good example is represented by medical technology: "Currently all eyes are on science and the development of a coronavirus vaccine. A fundamental prerequisite for the success of research on new drugs is the precise and reliable cooling of each single stage". A further challenge is the precision of the production, storage and transport temperatures of the medicines. BITZER is involved in all sectors, for example through collaboration with the Indonesian state-owned company PT Bio Farma, which produces vaccines and serums with the aim of ensuring better health care for the population.
At the SCHAUFLER Academy, the international company education and training center, BITZER has organized a special webinar for schoolchildren on 26 June 2020. With the motto "Be no fool, stay cool. Because a life without refrigeration and air conditioning is unthinkable”, the director of the SCHAUFLER Academy Volker Stamer will explain why we all have an urgent need for cooling.
Since its foundation in 1934, the Sindelfingen company has developed a large product portfolio and offers a solution suitable for practically any application: cooling in supermarkets, temperature regulation of maritime containers with which fruit from Africa or Asia is transported to Europe, but also the air conditioning of the computer centers. "The products we design and manufacture are the main components of the refrigeration and air conditioning systems", recalls Koops. This also applies to the technical sector: servers in the computing centers of large enterprises can only function reliably at suitable ambient temperatures.
The global business is managed from the new Sindelfingen headquarters. Koops says: "Our building, of great aesthetic impact and clearly visible along the highway, has already been noticed by many. Since our products operate hidden in the plants, they are not automatically linked to the BITZER name”. With World Refrigeration Day, BITZER wishes to give greater visibility to its products with a dedicated communication campaign. Among the various initiatives, the company will be giving away an ice cream machine on social media, to make ice creams, sorbets and frozen yogurts easily at home, to better enjoy the pleasant side of the cold.
